Measurements taken in the electrical supply network of machines and systems are critical in many applications. In addition to energy consumption, it is also possible to reliably detect network feedback, such as that from power electronics.
WAGO’s new 3-Phase Power Measurement Module offers an ideal solution to measure currents and voltages in a three-phase supply network directly in the control cabinet. The voltage is measured directly via the connections of the three phases (L1, L2 and L3), as well as the neutral conductor N. The currents of all three phases are detected by current transformers, which are also connected directly to the 3-phase power measurement module. Alternatively, current measurement via Rogowski coils is also possible.
The power measurement module is neatly packaged in a 72 mm wide DIN-rail-mount enclosure. It internally calculates all measured variables relevant within a three-phase supply network. Beyond voltages and currents, these variables include reactive, apparent and effective power, energy consumption, power factor, phase angle, and mains frequency. Since the current is also measured in the neutral conductor, short circuits can also be detected.

A Modbus RTU interface is available for transferring all measured values to a higher-level controller. A PC with interface configuration software can be connected via a serial interface, allowing all settings to be conveniently made. The software also allows visualisation of measured values during operation. With the integrated microSD memory card slot, which is also suitable for microSDHC memory cards up to 32 GB, the device can also be used as a data logger.
