The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising Manufacturing Conference 2017 with the theme “Future Ready Factories: Optimisation, Automation & Digitisation” scheduled on Friday, 22 December 2017 at Grand Mercure – Surya Palace, Vadodara.
The objective of this summit is to capture the forces that are determining Indian manufacturing and understand world-class competitive companies who have a strong focus on design, intelligent automations, emerging technologies and new processes that can shape the needs of growing industries.
The Key Highlights of the Manufacturing Conference 2017 are:
- 4 Plenary Sessions
- Panel Discussion
- Over 20 National & International Speakers
- B2B Meetings
- Exposition to showcase Products, Solutions & Services, and
- Over 200 participants from various industries.
The organisers expect participation of key executives including Senior and Middle Management in Manufacturing from Production, Operations, Planning, Purchase, Quality, Maintenance, Industrial engineering, Process engineering, etc; Plant Heads/Plant Managers/Factory Managers; Supervisors/Research Engineers/Equipment Suppliers/Line Managers; and Quality Assurance Managers, Production Head/Managers, among others.
Vadodara, the third largest city in the State of Gujarat after Ahmedabad and Surat, is an important industrial, cultural and educational hub of western India. The city houses several institutions of national and regional importance, and is also an important education hub, home of the Maharaja Sayajirao University, the largest university in Gujarat. In Vadodara various large-scale industries such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC), Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL, now owned by Reliance Industries Limited) and Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) have come up in the vicinity of Gujarat Refinery and all of them are dependent on it for their fuel and feedstock. Other large-scale public sector units are Heavy Water Project, Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). In addition to these public sector enterprises, a number of other large-scale enterprises have come up in the private sector such as Bombardier Transportation.
Located in Vadodara are over 35% India's power transmission and distribution equipment manufacturers and an estimated 800 ancillaries supporting the big players in Power Sector equipment manufacturing and engineering industry. In line with the 'Knowledge City' vision of CII, Vadodara is gradually becoming a hub in Gujarat for IT and other development projects. The CII recently opened a new office in the city, in August 2017.
CII organises various such conferences on different topics of contemporary relevance all across the country. At a recent conference on Industrial Automation with theme of “Realising the Smart Manufacturing Today” held in August 2017 at Chennai, Mr B Santhanam, Past Chairman, CII Southern Region, had in his opening address warned that manufacturing is getting transformed by digital disruption with astonishing rise in data volumes, computational power and connectivity. “The emergence of analytics, business intelligence, touch interfaces, augmented reality systems and the ever growing influence of social network is changing the way we have been looking at manufacturing. The use of mobile devices, emergence of the Internet of Things, creating dynamic, self organising real time optimised and value added connections, and improvements in transferring digital instructions to the physical world such as advanced robotics and 3D printing are all disrupting the manufacturing space. The success of Smart Manufacturing lies in intelligent digitisation programs and CII has a pioneering role in it,” he had concluded.
