Hannover Messe 2019 – The Countdown Begins
Published on : Monday 30-11--0001
As the countdown begins for the 2019 edition of Hannover Messe 2019, scheduled from April 1-5 at the Hannover Fair Grounds, Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd (HMFI) organised an event in Mumbai recently to brief the media about the exhibition in general, and the Indian participation in particular. HMFI is the official representative for Hannover Messe in India and has the mandate to assist industries from India, Srilanka and Nepal to participate in the show and deliver international class services to exhibitors and visitors. Ms Geeta Bisht, Director, HMFI, welcomed the media and introduced them to the other participants in the interaction – Mr Mukesh Samtani, Assistant Director EEPC India; and Ms Ulrika Sundberg, Consul General of the Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai.
A global technovaganza
Ms Ashwini Mistry, Project Manager, HMFI, elaborated on the highlights of Hannover Messe 2019 and the six trade shows that comprise the exhibition, viz., Integrated Automation, Motions & Drives (IAMD); Integrated Energy; Industrial Supply; Digital Factory; Research & Technology; and ComVac. For 2019, the lead theme of the event is "Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence", which spotlights digital networking between humans and machines in the age of artificial intelligence. As Dr Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Messe, put it succinctly elsewhere: “Artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionise the production and energy industries. People teach machines to act logically and purposefully to meet customer needs. AI systems generate knowledge and today, based on data and algorithms, can continuously optimise operating states or reliably predict faults and failures – in production processes, in the power grid or in logistics. That's what Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence stands for.”
The various topics that dominate the proceedings at the event include Industrie 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Cobots, Lightweight Construction, Logistics 4.0, Predictive Maintenance, Platform Economics, Digital Twin and Integrated Industry. As more and more companies – the SMEs in particular – are figuring out the ways and means to adopt Digital Transformation of their enterprises, a whole lot of new capital equipment and accessories need to be sourced, or suitable technology found to upgrade the legacy equipment in order to make it complaint with the Industrie 4.0 requirements. As the tagline for the show proclaims, Hannover Messe is the place to get new technology first, as many of the leading innovators use this venue for the launch of their new products and technologies.
The figures are equally humongous – 6,500 exhibitors from 73 countries and 220,000 trade visitors from 80 countries – as per the statistics of the last edition. With such impressive figures, the world’s leading show for industrial technology offers unprecedented opportunities for knowledge sharing, technical collaborations and networking, leading to countless business contacts, all in the quest of better productivity and profitability in a sustainable manner.
Indian Pavilion
EEPC India is gearing for the Indian Pavilion at Hannover Messe. This is a regular feature at this prestigious annual technology extravaganza for a decade now, with active cooperation with the organisers. Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, EEPC India is a premier trade and investment promotion organisation, which caters to the Indian engineering sector. As an advisory body it actively contributes to the policies of Government of India and acts as an interface between the engineering industry and the Government. Set up in 1955, EEPC India now has a membership base of over 13,000 out of whom 60% are SMEs.
“With a subsidy ranging from 30-40% of the cost of participation, EEPC facilitates SMEs from India to exhibit at Hannover Messe with a standard booth size of 9 sq.m,” said Mukesh Samtani, Assistant Director EEPC India, speaking at the Mumbai gathering. At Hannover Messe, the Indian Pavilion attracts 160-200 exhibitors, according to Samtani, the figure fluctuation caused mainly because of the show composition during the odd and even years where some shows alternate.
For the 2019 show, EEPC India is also offering a special package for Indian SMEs to be a part of the Hannover Messe Pump Plaza in Hall 15. This event within the event offers a high quality, casual atmosphere of communication, in which the receipt and exchange of information are at the centre – a meeting place for all involved in manufacturing, research, development and application of pumps and pump systems. In this special display area the manufacturers of pumps and pump systems present their products and services in the following main categories: Pumps and pump systems; Technology for powering pump systems; Instrumentation for pump systems; Frequency converter; Maintenance; and more pumps components.
EEPC India participates in over 30 shows globally to help Indian SMEs in this Market Access Initiative (MAI) scheme launched specifically to promote India’s engineering exports.
Partner Country Sweden
At Hannover Messe, Partner Country Sweden will highlight herself as a lab for co-creation (CO) and innovation (LAB) – an open and strong collaborative partner committed to innovation – Sweden CO-LAB. At the national pavilion, the Swedish Co-Lab Digital Factory will display a digital journey through Sweden’s state-of-the-art smart industry solutions.
“The Hannover Messe is not only an important arena to manifest and strengthen bilateral relations like the German and Swedish Partnership for Innovation, but also an opportunity to connect with business representatives and media from all over the world, and highlight other such partnerships like the recent one between India and Sweden,” said Ulrika Sundberg, Consul General of the Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai.
“Collaboration and team work will be the focus of Sweden’s presence in Hannover in 2019. The Swedish government, industry and research institutions together are dedicated to keeping our country at the forefront of innovation and digital transformation, making Sweden a solid base for investment and partnerships,” she added.
Through collaboration between different stakeholders and areas of society Sweden has been able to foster a creative innovation climate. Sweden is the number one tech hub in Europe with a thriving start-up scene, being home to companies such as Spotify, Klarna, Truecaller and King. Besides, it has a strong line-up of global companies like ABB, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Ericsson, SKF, Trelleborg, and Vatenfall, to name a few, some with over 100 years of legacy.
Around 40 highly relevant Swedish start-ups and scale-ups will attend the Hannover Messe thanks to a joint program by Vinnova – Sweden’s Innovation Agency, SISP – Sweden’s Incubators and Science Parks, and Ignite Sweden – enabling new collaborations between industries and start-ups – and interested visitors can meet them all in the Swedish pavilion.
