National, November 2024: In a move that could add swing to the journey of India towards Net Zero with rolling out efficient solar power services, Sunkind – a leading renewable energy solutions provider – has secured a significant ground-mounted solar project awarded by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) under the MSKVY 2.0 scheme. The 569 MW EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project represents a stunning step forward in Maharashtra's renewable energy sector.

The project specifically includes a 10.4 MWp capacity ground-mounted solar PV technology grid interactive distributed agriculture feeder solarisation system, to be implemented in Satmane, Nashik. This initiative is part of the larger MSKVY 2.0 (Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana) scheme, aimed at boosting agricultural power supply through solar energy.

The project will follow the CAPEX model, which has emerged as the preferred business model for solar power installations in India. Under this arrangement, Sunkind, as the EPC contractor, will provide wide-ranging installation services for the entire solar power system, with the final ownership transferred to Mahagenco.

Mahagenco, formerly known as MSEB (Maharashtra State Electricity Board), stands as Maharashtra's premier power generating company and continues to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board. This association marks a significant milestone in the state's push toward sustainable energy solutions.

Expressing enthusiasm about the project that underlines the commitment to innovation and sustainability, Mr Hanish Gupta, Founder and CEO at Sunkind said: "We are honored to be selected by Mahagenco for this grand solar project. The 569-MW initiative represents not just a business achievement, but a significant step toward India's sustainable energy future. Thank you to our dedicated team and partners for their hard work and collaboration. Together, we are contributing to a sustainable future. This project will significantly impact agricultural power distribution in the Nashik region and serve as a model for future renewable energy initiatives."

The project is expected to enhance agricultural productivity through reliable power supply while contributing to Maharashtra's renewable energy goals.
