micromobility expo gearing up for launch as online trade show in August 2020 – convenient user access to big-name exhibitors, online.
Hannover, June 2020 – Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the micromobility expo is not physically taking place in Hannover this summer. Instead, this trade show for micromobility, mobility infrastructure and services will be staged on 27 and 28 August as an online event. Deutsche Messe is thus launching a new, digital networking hub for the micromobility industry, offering an alternative to anyone who is not in a position to be an exhibitor or visitor at the micromobility expo this year. The micromobility expo brings together manufacturers and users to promote micromobility in society in general, while providing new ideas and stimuli for the needed changes in urban transportation policy. The event had already been postponed from May to August on account of the pandemic.
“We are currently working flat out to convert the micromobility expo into a digital format,” says Simona Erdmann, developer and project director of the micromobility expo at Hannover-based Deutsche Messe. “The combination of a two-day conference, a digital exhibition and networking opportunities is intended to serve the industry as a platform for information sharing, networking and business initiatives, especially in these times of crisis.”
Exhibitors will have the opportunity to digitally present their innovative products, developments and product premieres. The user simply needs to click on the products to discover links to videos and further information. In addition to product presentations, there will be interactive workshops and forums with video chats.
The digital format will also bring together leading figures from a number of industry sectors for panel discussions on the topics of future mobility, urban logistics and multi- and intermodality on the web. Also on the agenda are the topics of urban and spatial development, security and micromobility for all age groups.
Visitors can visit the virtual trade fair from the comfort of their own computer or mobile device. They will be given extensive opportunities for interaction: chat functions, video calls and speed dating will enable them to talk to experts and offer feedback.
“Obviously, a virtual tradeshow cannot completely replace a traditional tradeshow format and the opportunities it offers for direct, personal engagement. But it can serve as a valuable addition,” says Erdmann, adding: “The coming weeks and months will reveal just how enriching this new digital format is going to be for the micromobility industry.”
The micromobility expo celebrated its premiere last year. Some 3,000 visitors traveled to the exhibition center at the beginning of May 2019 to learn about the latest trends in an increasingly electrically driven mobility “to cover the last mile”.
Next year, the micromobility expo will return as a live event, taking place from 27 to 29 May 2021 beneath the Expo Canopy at the Hannover Exhibition Center.
