The Canadian Robot Meca500 to Conquer Europe
Published on : Monday 30-11--0001
Montreal, September 26, 2018 – The Meca500, manufactured in Canada by Mecademic, is once again meeting the European public just three months after its first official presentation at Automatica. Already used in a dozen European countries, this six-axis robot is increasingly used in the electronics, aerospace, medical equipment, and biotechnology industries. The European market currently represents a quarter of the company’s turnover.
Among European customers who use the Meca500 for their processes in confined spaces, is the German company Montratec GmbH, a developer of intra-logistics solutions. Its engineers needed a small and compact industrial robot; features that make the Meca500 so unique. In this video, the Meca500 is integrated into their montrac monorail system: https://vimeo.com/271619852?lite=1
Industrial robotics in the palm of the hand
Mecademic provides ultra-compact, precise, and easy to integrate robot arms that will revolutionise the robotics field. An industrial robot should be a component, like a conveyor or a vision system, not a bulky, stand-alone, and complex system that requires several days of training. Mecademic designs, develops and manufactures the most compact and accurate small six-axis industrial robots on the market. Although the team is continuously growing, all have one thing in common: a passion for creativity and innovation, for sharing knowledge, and for finding new solutions for flexible automation.
Mecademic was founded in 2013 by Jonathan Coulombe (CEO) and Professor Ilian Bonev of Montreal's École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). The first product was a dual-arm SCARA robot (DexTAR) for the academic market. Shortly after the commercial release of DexTAR, Jonathan decided to focus exclusively on delivering high-precision, small robot arms to the industry. The Meca500 was introduced to the public in May 2015, and has been commercially available since July 2016. It is already being used in nearly twenty countries in North America, Europe and Asia.
Mecademic's guiding principles are to: • Innovate and create unique products for flexible automation • Offer only the highest quality robotics components • Disseminate robotics knowledge • Listen and learn from our customers • Improve customer relationships on a continuous basis, and • Develop strategic long-term partnerships.
